Jermuk Residents Hold Protest Against Amulsar Exploitation
A protest against the exploitation of the Amulsar mine was held in Jermuk. It is noteworthy that Shirak Buniatyan, a resident of Jermuk and a guardian of Amulsar, has issued a statement.
The statement reads in part: “Dear compatriots, at this moment we have three residents of the Jermuk community detained who have been transferred to Yerevan and are facing charges. Yes, we do not condone any violence, but we also will not tolerate discriminatory treatment.
In our opinion, it is discriminatory when, about a year ago, three young people from the Jermuk community were arrested following a scuffle in the village of Gndevaz. It is discriminatory when the guards of Lydian beat a resident of Jermuk and the police officer who came to his aid, and this has not received an adequate legal response so far. It is discriminatory when we hear that there was a fight recently, but it is the supporters of the AMULSAR rescue who are arrested and taken to Yerevan.
Dear proud ARMENIAN, today we will spontaneously, as families, come out to the Jermuk taxi stop to show our support for the detained citizens.”
