Information from the Armenian Police Regarding the Brawl in Gndevaz
On September 15, at 22:40, a citizen called the police and reported that a large fight was taking place in the village of Gndevaz. This information has been provided by the Armenian Police.
As a result of immediate actions taken by the officers of the Jermuk police department, it was revealed that the brawl stemmed from a dispute that arose days earlier when protesters, ignoring universally recognized moral norms, expressed their discontent towards the actions of citizens working or wanting to work in the mine by shouting sexual insults to assert their superiority.
For clarifications on this issue, on September 15, at 22:00, the parties gathered near residential houses in Gndevaz village at a place called 'At the Crosses'. One person from each side separated themselves, but after failing to reach an agreement, they began to insult and hit each other. Others intervened in the fight, and ignoring the fact that they were near residents' homes, they exchanged sexual insults for nearly 40 minutes in front of onlookers, using their hands, feet, stones, wooden batons, and iron rods, causing bodily injuries.
During the mass dispute, one participant in the protest, seeing an approaching vehicle, broke the windshield with a stone. Other participants of the protest followed suit and also pulled and tore the vehicle's electric cables.
At the scene, wooden batons, iron rods, and stones were discovered and confiscated. A criminal case has been initiated at the Jermuk police department regarding the act of hooliganism, which has been forwarded to the investigative committee.
Three individuals have been detained and arrested on suspicion of committing apparent hooliganism. An investigation is underway.
The police urge all parties involved in such actions to operate strictly within the bounds of the law, respect the rights of others, and under no circumstances violate public order; otherwise, law enforcement's intervention will not be delayed.
