New Financial Burden: Citizens Refusing Identification Cards to Pay State Duty
In Armenia, citizens who do not present an identification card or refuse to obtain one will be required to pay a state duty. "Zhoghovurd" newspaper reports that the Police of the Republic of Armenia intends to make amendments to the Law on State Duties.
Citizens need to present an identification card to obtain an old-style passport, meaning they must have the card in advance. It turns out that due to the new coronavirus pandemic, almost all state bodies and even parts of the private sector have transitioned to providing services through electronic platforms.
Moreover, when citizens submit applications, inquiries, or requests through electronic platforms, the identification card is mandatory. On the other hand, citizens must pay a fee to obtain the identification card. Thus, the requirement to possess an identification card becomes a new financial burden for citizens.
