Russian Deputy Energy Minister Arrested for 603 Million Ruble Embezzlement
According to the TASS news agency, the Moscow Basmanny Court has remanded Russian Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Tikhonov in custody for two months, who is accused of embezzling over 600 million rubles.
Sources indicate that the Investigative Committee requested the detention of the official until November 8. However, Tikhonov's defense team has announced that they will appeal the detention ruling.
The Investigative Committee justified its request by stating that if a milder measure were adopted, Tikhonov could evade investigation, exert pressure on witnesses, obstruct the objective investigation of the criminal case, and continue engaging in criminal activities.
