Gegham Gevorgyan Sues YSU and Will Pay Himself 13 Million Drams
The acting rector of Yerevan State University (YSU) Gegham Gevorgyan has filed a lawsuit against YSU, where he himself is the rector. The court has accepted the claim, resulting in YSU having to pay Gevorgyan 13 million drams. This was reported by Hraparak.am.
According to the source, former YSU rector Aram Simonian dismissed Gevorgyan, prompting him to file a lawsuit against the university. The basis for Gevorgyan's dismissal was the principle of special trust and loyalty enshrined in the precedent law of the European Court of Human Rights, also taking into account that there are elements of public administration at YSU.
On March 22, 2019, Gegham Gevorgyan approached the court demanding: 1. To declare the dismissal order invalid, 2. To reinstate him in the position of YSU vice-rector, 3. To recover his average salary for the compulsory downtime from YSU, 4. To recover 1 million drams from YSU as compensation for legal fees, 5. To recover 4 thousand drams from YSU as a state duty.
