«Hraparak». Discussions on the draft state budget for 2021 have started with issues
The government has already begun the development and discussions of the draft state budget for 2021, but there are already issues related to certain sectors, particularly agriculture. It was reported that a discussion took place recently in the National Assembly's Committee on Territorial Administration and Agricultural Issues regarding the budget for agriculture, which was quite intense.
Initially, Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan, who considers himself distant from agriculture, was present, but halfway through, he placed his portfolio under his arm and left, leaving the burden on Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan. Legislators directed their criticisms towards him. Apart from representatives of the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions, the chairman of the committee, My Step member Varazdat Karapetyan, also criticized the project in detail.
The main issue is that there is no clear plan for the development of the agricultural sector; the main programs are only for lowland agriculture, and there is nothing directed at mountainous communities. Additionally, the legislators reminded that this year's unfulfilled programs from the Ministry of Economy concerning agriculture have not been realized.
