VIDEO: Unjustified Use of Car Horns is Prohibited

The appropriate use of car horns is essential for road safety. Timely use of a horn prevents accidents by drawing the attention of other road users.

Unjustified use of a horn is forbidden and considered a violation. According to the decision 955-N of the Government of Armenia dated June 28, 2007, horns can only be used to alert other drivers when intending to overtake outside populated areas, when it is necessary to prevent a road accident.

In all other cases, unjustified horn use leads to administrative consequences.

Today, there is also concern about the installation of horn devices that are used without the appropriate authorization. Such devices are installed on the vehicles of special services for official use only.

The Road Police are conducting special measures to identify vehicles equipped with special horns, and we regularly report on the outcomes, urging our citizens to contact the police if they see vehicles with such equipment.

Drivers are reminded that if a vehicle is found with unauthorized horn devices, the equipment will be confiscated, and the driver will be deprived of their driving license for one year. This is a legal requirement.
