VIDEO: 12 Apartments Partially Collapsed Due to Gas Explosion, All Citizens Trapped Under Rubble Rescued
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the gas explosion that caused a building to collapse in Yerevan on his Facebook page, informing that 12 apartments on one entrance have collapsed. The post reads:
“This morning, an explosion occurred leading to the collapse of a 4-story building located at 1 Rainisi Street in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan. Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of the explosion was a natural gas leak. Twelve apartments in the same entrance were partially destroyed.
Nineteen residents managed to exit the collapsed section of the building either on their own or with the help of rescuers. Initial information indicated that 3 citizens were trapped under the rubble. Rescuers have pulled out two of them. The last one was rescued just minutes ago. Both are conscious.
I visited the scene this morning to assess the situation. Rescue operations are ongoing.”
