Armenian Citizen Arrested in Kyiv for Fake Bomb Threats Against US and Turkish Embassies

An Armenian citizen has been arrested in Kyiv for allegedly making false bomb threat reports against the US and Turkish embassies. This information was reported by Nadezhda Maximets, the spokesperson for the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office, according to pravda.com.ua.

The Kyiv Local Prosecutor's Office No. 3 stated that a 46-year-old Armenian citizen is suspected of making fake bomb threat calls concerning the embassies on August 1, 2020.

According to the investigation, the suspect made two phone calls to the '102' emergency line from his mobile phone, falsely claiming that the buildings of both embassies were bombed.

Maximets noted that the arrested individual had previously been convicted for a similar crime in 2018, at which time he received a suspended sentence. Authorities are currently determining the appropriate pre-trial detention measures for him, as he faces up to 6 years in prison for the current charges.
