Turkey and Ukraine May Start Joint Production of Bayraktar-type Drones
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey in Ukraine, Yağmur Gülderin, mentioned in an interview with Ukrainian media that Turkey and Ukraine may start joint production of drones if the necessary conditions are met.
Gülderin referred specifically to the Turkish Bayraktar-type strike drones. He noted that Ukraine recently purchased Bayraktar drones from Turkey and added that discussions are underway regarding the development of more advanced systems in Ukraine and even the production of Bayraktars.
According to the Ambassador, joint production of these drones could become a new symbol of Turkey-Ukraine cooperation in the defense industry. “We are discussing very important projects related to our national security. We continue to work actively in this area,” he said.
Additionally, Gülderin emphasized that military-financial cooperation between Turkey and Ukraine has strengthened collaboration in the defense industry of both countries.
It should be reminded that on February 3, 2020, an agreement was signed between Turkey and Ukraine regarding military-financial cooperation and assistance. Earlier, a joint organization in the field of weapons and aerospace technologies was established between the Ukrainian company Ukroboronprom and the Turkish manufacturing company Baykar.
