The Issue of Outstanding Graduates Not Accepted to Universities Has Been Resolved: Araik Harutyunyan
Yesterday, we completed the competition for additional vacant spots and we have the results. This was stated today, July 26, by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araik Harutyunyan during a live broadcast summarizing the admission exams.
According to data received from the Educational Assessment and Testing Center, a total of 11,979 applicants registered for the 2020 Unified Entrance Exams. Out of these, 11,648 participated in the exams, and 9,372 received positive grades. The figures do not include students from military and specialized universities, of which 8,706 were admitted to higher educational institutions.
Through the competition for vacant spots that concluded yesterday, 472 applicants were accepted, while 49 were not. Thus, of the nearly 12,000 applicants who participated in the entrance exams, the number of those who received positive grades but were not admitted is 223. They have the opportunity to apply to universities during the distance admission period in September while maintaining their grades. The system we are currently developing provides very little chance that they might not be admitted,” said the minister.
Araik Harutyunyan added that they have also resolved the issue of 6 outstanding students who received excellent grades but were not accepted to universities. They have been offered the next educational programs for their application requests, to which 4 applicants have responded.
“This means that 4 out of those who scored 18 and above and were not accepted are already students. One of them has indicated he intends to apply distantly, and another has specified a particular specialty he wants, has learned about the procedure, and has filled out just one application,” the minister remarked.
