Pashinyan Orders the Detention of Bodyguards Accompanying Arthur Vanetsyan
Arsen Babayan, a member of the 'Hayrenik' party council, wrote on his Facebook page: “As we all know, political persecution against political opponents has begun under the current political authority. Nikol Pashinyan has personally instructed the law enforcement agencies that are subordinate to him to initiate criminal cases, subject critics to various pressures, and detain them in police stations, creating all sorts of inconveniences. I have just received information that Pashinyan has instructed the law enforcement to stop on the street and forcibly detain the bodyguards accompanying the president of the 'Hayrenik' party, Arthur Vanetsyan.
Attention, Nikol Pashinyan, I inform you that any such action will be manifestly illegal for the simple reason that the law on 'Private Security Activities' in the Republic of Armenia allows individuals to provide security services for the protection of life and health of the persons specified in their contracts. Arthur Vanetsyan is currently receiving security services from a company engaged in private security activities, licensed by the Chief of Police of Armenia, in accordance with the established legal procedure. If any actions of detaining those guys take place after all this, then Nikol Pashinyan himself will bear full responsibility for the consequences of those illegal actions. Don't say I didn't warn you.”
