VIDEO: Georgians Celebrate Lifting of State of Emergency with Dance and Fireworks
Residents of Tbilisi are marking the lifting of the state of emergency that had been in place in Georgia for two months. At midnight, many took to the streets to meet friends and organize fireworks.
The sounds of their joy were audible from various corners of the city, and dances were shared online.
It should be noted that Georgian Prime Minister Georgi Gakharia announced during the intergovernmental coordinating council meeting yesterday that the state of emergency imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic was being lifted in the country.
Gakharia emphasized that the government is working in two directions: protecting people's health and restoring the economy. However, he noted that this does not mean that everything is fine in the country or that the pandemic has been overcome. The pandemic has not been conquered in either Georgia or globally.
