Prison Service Employees at Astghik Medical Center, Seeking to Transfer Gagik Khachatryan to Prison
Employees of the Prison Service are currently at the Astghik Medical Center to transfer former head of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan to prison based on a decision by the director of the Penitentiary Medical Center.
In a conversation with "Armenian Time," Gagik Khachatryan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, detailed that they aim to transfer him despite the fact that he is undergoing treatment. "The prison service employees are here accompanied by a doctor from the Penitentiary Medical Center, and they arrived with the intention of transferring Gagik Khachatryan even though he had not been discharged from the hospital. Upon our raising this issue, it became apparent over the course of hours that there is a decision from the director of the Penitentiary Medical Center, based on which the hospital was forced to make the decision to discharge him," Sargsyan explained.
When asked about the grounds for the decision made by the director of the Penitentiary Medical Center, the lawyer stated he was unaware and mentioned that they had not yet been provided with the decision. "But it is a fact that the treating physician decides whether treatment is necessary, and suddenly it turns out that the center has decided to transfer him without a discharge," he added.
