Asymptomatic COVID-19 Cases in Armenia Will Be Sent Home as Country Changes Strategy
The Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, made a post on his Facebook page announcing that hundreds of citizens infected with the coronavirus, who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, will return home and will no longer be isolated in hospitals and hotels.
He noted that healthcare workers from urban polyclinics, rural ambulatory services, and health centers will take care of the home monitoring of such patients.
“This change is due to two factors: the first is the increasing number of citizens diagnosed positively, and the second is the change in the management strategy for asymptomatic cases, considering the optimal use of hospital beds and other resources,” he wrote.
Arsen Torosyan also informed that the National Institute of Health will conduct extensive remote training courses on the procedures for managing COVID-positive patients at home.
To maintain rapid connection between the emergency service and the hospital system, a call center for doctors will be established at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center, where specialist doctors with more experience in treating coronavirus will provide consultations to their colleagues on both methodological questions and specific patients.
