There Should Be No Uncultivated Land in the Country, Says Georgian Prime Minister
The agricultural process should not stop even for a day, and there should be no uncultivated land in the country. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, during a discussion on the agricultural anti-crisis program.
According to Gakharia, all 42,000 farmers in Georgia will be completely exempt from irrigation fees, and throughout 2020, they will irrigate their plots for free. This was reported by 'Novosti Gruzia'.
"In addition, every farmer who needs to purchase equipment, upgrade greenhouse facilities, or irrigation systems will receive financial assistance from the state or a payment covering 50% of the cost of the works, which will be considered a grant," Giorgi Gakharia announced.
The Prime Minister stated that these programs will be launched on May 20 and the program also includes other support that will be extended to approximately 200,000 farmers. The budget for agricultural assistance will amount to 300 million lari (80 million dollars).
