Scandal Brewing Within Authorities: Land Dispute Arises

The newspaper "Jhoghovurd" writes that heated discussions have been taking place within the authorities regarding the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in recent days.

The matter at hand is that by the written directive of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the land parcel under the balance sheet of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute is to be transferred to the Yerevan Municipality.

According to our sources, the management of the museum-institute wants the approximately one hundred hectare land adjacent to it to be developed as it has remained undeveloped for years. However, the municipality has stated that it is not on their balance sheet.

Our sources indicate that Mayor Hayk Marutyan has internally demanded that the land parcel be included under their control so that it can be developed.

We also report that the situation has heated up to the point that the issue has reached the head of the government staff, Edward Aghajanyan. The young head of the staff has held meetings with the parties and tried to resolve the issue. However, according to our information, the parties have not been able to reach a consensus.

The "Jhoghovurd" newspaper spoke with the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Harutyun Marutyan, who stated: "I am aware that there are discussions. And this is normal." We also spoke with the head of the government staff, Edward Aghajanyan. "We have decided that a strategy for the development of the garden should be developed, and we have given the corresponding directives in this regard," he noted.
