Companies Providing Hotel and Food Services to Citizens are Paid According to Established Procedures: Ministry of Economy

Due to the coronavirus, companies providing hotel and food services to citizens are compensated according to established procedures. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy.

The announcement states, “On May 7, unverified information regarding the accommodation of isolated citizens and food delivery services circulated in some media outlets. In response to the crises caused by the new coronavirus outbreak in Armenia and the need to isolate individuals in contact with virus carriers, the Ministry of Economy's Tourism Committee issued a declaration regarding the collection of services from hotel and food providers, to which several economic operators responded. Cooperation with these operators and payments for the services rendered are carried out in compliance with established procedures. Information regarding the execution of the planned payments is published accordingly.

The hotels mentioned in the article, as well as all other service providers in the tourism sector and food supply services, including the “Karas” food network, are regularly paid within the timeframes stipulated by the invoices submitted by them, thus stating that “the state does not owe them any money.”

It is also necessary to note that some hotel facilities have expressed their willingness to provide hotel accommodations free of charge or at prices significantly lower than usual. There have also been food delivery organizations that have organized food distribution for hundreds of isolated citizens and medical staff as part of charitable initiatives. It is possible that the “Karas” food network has continued its food provision process on a charitable basis alongside paid services.
