Immediately following the incident in Gavar city, the Human Rights Defender has established around-the-clock monitoring. Rapid response teams have been dispatched to police departments, Gavar city, Gavar Medical Center, and Noratus village under the directive of the Human Rights Defender.
Representatives of the Defender will hold meetings in Gavar and Noratus village with individuals whose relatives are under the care of law enforcement. Individual conversations have already taken place with those who have been apprehended, including those who have been arrested, to examine the status of their rights and the grounds for their deprivation of liberty.
Numerous alerts have been received on the hotline of the Human Rights Defender's office, and we are in contact with law enforcement and lawyers. Necessary measures are being undertaken within the scope of the Defender's authority. This information has been reported by the Ombudsman's office.
