Communication Between Recruits and Service Personnel Will Be Minimized: Ministry of Defense
In light of the situation caused by the coronavirus, various preventive measures will be implemented during both the preparatory phase of the conscription and the actual conscription to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its infiltration into the armed forces. This was stated by Shushan Stepanyan, spokeswoman for the Minister of Defense of Armenia, on her Facebook page.
The preventive measures will include the following:
- Recruits and service personnel will be provided with individual protective gear, including masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer.
- To avoid unnecessary gatherings, recruits will present themselves to their designated territorial subdivisions in small groups.
- Throughout the day, buildings and vehicles will be regularly disinfected.
- The number of transport vehicles for transferring recruits will be increased, allowing for transportation in smaller groups.
- Since the central gathering point is always crowded, parents will be able to follow the conscription process from outside via video link.
- Communication between recruits and service personnel will be minimized as much as possible.
- Recruits will arrive at the gathering point according to their territorial subdivisions.
- Open areas will be used for the lottery.
- Recruits arriving at the republican gathering point from areas close to the capital will not stay overnight and will leave for their assigned military units after the process concludes.
- Recruits with fever will be isolated.
- In the military units, recruits will spend 14 days in a separate area under strict medical supervision by the unit's medical staff and will be tested as necessary.
- The personnel working with new recruits in the military unit will operate in a barracks mode.
- Food for recruits in the military unit will be served while strictly adhering to sanitary and hygienic requirements.
