Vardenyats Pass Impassable for Trucks; Black Ice on Roads in Syunik Province - Ministry of Emergency Situations
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of April 25 at 08:30, the roads in the territory of Armenia are mostly passable. The roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kary Lake in Aragatsotn Province will remain closed for an indefinite period.
The Vardenyats Pass is impassable for trucks. In the Saravan-Zanger section of Vayots Dzor Province and on the roads of Syunik Province, black ice is present.
In the town of Jermuk in Vayots Dzor Province, in the winding roads of Dilijan in Tavush Province, in Charentsavan in Kotayk Province, and in Sisian, Martuni, Vardenis, Gavar towns of Syunik Province, as well as in Shirak Province, there are snowfall reports.
According to information obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is open only for freight vehicles following intensive snow clearing operations.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations also announces that the decision to prohibit the entry of foreigners into Georgia remains in effect. The ban does not apply to freight transport.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
