Everyday Interactions and Life Are More Vulnerable to Infection than Elections: Araik Harutyunyan

The choice carries the least risk. This was stated today, April 12, by Araik Harutyunyan, a candidate for the presidency of Artsakh, during a live broadcast on Artsakh Public Television, addressing concerns about holding the second round of elections amid the pandemic.

"Our everyday interactions and life are more at risk of infection than elections, where rules are being followed," he said.

Nevertheless, Araik Harutyunyan urged the elderly and those with health problems not to participate in the voting. "Of course, it is their right to choose, but I urge them not to endanger their health," he noted.

According to Araik Harutyunyan, elections are essential as there is a need to form a legitimate authority to withstand the expected crisis.

It is worth mentioning that the second round of elections will take place on April 14. Araik Harutyunyan and Masis Mayilyan are the candidates who have advanced to the second round. Masis Mayilyan has called for not participating in the elections under pandemic conditions. He also refused to participate in today's televised debate.
