Will the fines for red lines be lifted due to the current viral situation?
Will the fines for red lines, imposed due to the existing viral situation, be lifted or not? Today, on April 11, at a press conference held at the Government Press Center, this question was directed to Sergey Harutyunyan, the head of the operational headquarters coordinating preventive measures against the virus and deputy mayor of Yerevan. In response, he urged drivers to be more cautious while driving during these days and not to violate the rules.
“I can't answer that question because I don't know what the legal grounds for lifting them would be. Unfortunately, I have noticed these days that drivers, realizing that the number of vehicles has decreased, are driving in a more reckless and adventurous manner. The violations I see are not typical for normal times; they are dangerous. Now, in a more relaxed environment, I understand that with fewer cars it is easier to drive, but one must be more careful and follow the law,” said Harutyunyan.
When asked if there are any programs to support drivers, the speaker stated that he does not have official information about extending the deadlines and that such discussions have not taken place at the Yerevan City Hall so far.
