Will the State of Emergency Be Extended? - Hraparak
According to the newspaper 'Hraparak', a state of emergency was declared in Armenia due to coronavirus from March 16 until April 14 at 17:00. Under Article 5 of the law on the state of emergency, 'the duration of the state of emergency declared throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia cannot exceed 30 days, while in specific areas, it can last up to 60 days.' This indicates that if the state of emergency is extended, it will only be of a local nature.
According to some information, discussions are ongoing regarding the extension of the regime in the capital for another 30 days. Since the deadline for the state of emergency is set to expire on April 14 at 17:00, it is expected that an announcement regarding its extension or termination will be made by the evening of April 13 at the latest. If an extension is granted, the bill must be approved by the National Assembly. It is worth noting that the regular four-day session of the National Assembly begins on April 14.
