Government Discusses Further Actions to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting of the commission coordinating efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia has taken place at the government office.
Health Minister Arsen Torosyan provided information on the statistics of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Armenia, the general dynamics, and the health status of infected individuals.
Deputy Prime Minister and Emergency Situation Commandant Tigran Avinyan addressed the measures being implemented within the framework of policies aimed at preventing the spread of the virus. He noted that the IT tools, particularly the tracking system, are proving effective and allow for better control of the chains of virus transmission.
It was reported that on April 8, the commandant's office initiated a special flight from China to Armenia, through which Armenia's healthcare system was supplemented with 120 artificial lung ventilation devices, 2 oxygen supply stations, 60,000 tests, 60,000 medical masks, 280,000 protective masks, 20,000 protective goggles, 100,000 protective suits, and medications.
Avinyan mentioned that in the coming days, the system will be supplemented with an additional 100,000 tests, which will allow for an expanded scope and capacity of testing, as well as with new equipment and protective gear.
The meeting discussed further actions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Topics included organizing work in economic, social, educational, cultural, and other sectors of public life. The manageability of the epidemiological issue, restrictions on movement and economic activity, control mechanisms, and several other issues were also addressed.
