Extension of State of Emergency Across the Republic Legally Impossible, Marukyan on Press Reports
Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the Bright Armenia faction, has addressed recent press reports about the extension of the state of emergency in Armenia on his Facebook page. He particularly wrote:
“There are rumors circulating in the media about a draft in the government to extend the state of emergency for another 30 days. I inform you that according to Article 5, Part 1 of the Law on the Legal Regime of the State of Emergency, the duration of the state of emergency declared throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia cannot exceed 30 days, while in specific areas, it can last up to 60 days. Therefore, extending the same regime across the entire territory of the Republic is legally impossible.”
