People Aged 65 and Older Are Capable of Working and Must Be Competitive, Says Pashinyan

What should citizens do if they are not competitive in the labor market but have not yet reached retirement age? This question was posed to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today. He noted that none of the anti-crisis measures and packages introduced have strict age limitations, but he understands that there are indeed specific challenges for that age group.

The Prime Minister informed that discussions are currently underway regarding what can be done in the context of reforms to family benefits. “In my view, individuals aged 55-62, as well as those aged 65 and older, are fully capable of working even today, and we need to have programs aimed at making people more competitive in the labor market. Our challenge should not be just to support them with pensions or benefits but to develop their skills so that they can be more competitive in the workforce,” he said.
