In These Gloomy Days, We Want to Share Bright News with You - Anna Hakobyan
“The surgery of Lia, one of the beneficiaries of the “City of Smiles” foundation, has gone very well. This was reported by Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, on her Facebook page.
“In these gloomy days, we want to share bright news with you. The surgery of Lia, one of the beneficiaries of the “City of Smiles” foundation, has gone very well. The 17-year-old beauty was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, and after several courses of chemotherapy, it became necessary to endoprosthetically preserve her leg. The prevailing situation in the world and the state of emergency created serious obstacles in bringing this vital endoprosthesis to Armenia. However, thanks to the willing and kind-hearted people, we were able to deliver it to Armenia on time. The cost of the endoprosthesis amounted to approximately 7000 euros!
The limb-saving surgery was performed free of charge by Galust Galustyan, the head of the Orthopedic Oncology and Bone Pathology Clinic at the “Nairi” Medical Center.
We express our deep gratitude to all the organizations and individuals without whose assistance we would not have been able to realize this. Special thanks to the Department of Humanitarian Assistance Programs of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan for expediting the paperwork, to the “Nairi” Medical Center, and personally to Narine Mamikonyan-Kushkyan and Galust Galustyan for performing the surgery.
We are immensely grateful to all our donors who continue to support us during this difficult period, understanding that cancer does not wait. Our Lia will continue her treatment at the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology.
