Vardenyats Pass Closed: Current Road Conditions

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of April 5, at 08:15, the roads in the territory of Armenia are mostly passable. However, the roads leading to the Amberd Fortress and Kary Lake in the Aragatsotn region will remain closed for an indefinite period.

Vardenyats Pass is closed. Snow is currently affecting the roads in Charentsavan (Kotayk region), Jermuk (Vayots Dzor region), the Saravan-Zanger section, and areas of Aragatsotn region including Aragats and Aparan.

According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open only for heavy vehicles after intensive snow clearing.

It is also reported that the ban on the entry of foreigners into Georgia remains in effect. This restriction does not apply to cargo transportation. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
