Burastan Mayor and Family Infected with Coronavirus, His Wife Hospitalized
The mayor of the Burastan community in the Ararat region, Ashot Tarverdyan, has been quarantined along with three family members after testing positive for coronavirus. This was confirmed by Mayor Tarverdyan to NEWS.am.
“We were tested and received a positive result. I am currently isolated in the therapeutic department of Artashat. We have been quarantined for the second day now. Our family had symptoms,” he said.
The mayor explained that they contracted the virus from a relative: “Our relative was infected but did not know it, and she came to visit us. She had been in contact with one of the workers from that well-known factory, who is her friend. They had contact and passed it on to us. My uncle’s wife has also been confirmed positive, and she caught it from her daughter.”
Tarverdyan noted that there are other residents in the community who have also contracted the virus and are under quarantine. “I am over 60, and I feel well for now; sometimes my temperature rises, but then it goes down. Overall, I am managing it lightly. My wife has issues; she has diabetes and has a fever. She has been transferred to the ‘Norq’ infection unit. There are three of us in the family: myself, my wife, and my daughter.”
