BHK Will Not Participate in Discussions on Citizen Locator Bill
The Parliamentary Group of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) will not participate in the discussions regarding the second reading of the citizen locator bill. This was announced by Iveta Tonoyan, a member of the BHK faction in the National Assembly.
“The extraordinary session of the National Assembly, which was convened today, has completed its agenda, and the unacceptable bill on the location of Armenian citizens was halted this morning. The Prosperous Armenia Party has not participated in this session and will not take part in the discussions for the second reading, as the approach to inform opposition factions about the session was utterly dismissive of the principles of parliamentarism, demonstrating the government’s obvious attitude towards this issue,” stated Tonoyan.
The BHK parliamentary faction has already presented its justifications regarding this controversial bill and sees no need to address it again. “We want to reiterate that this bill will not contribute to the fight against the pandemic; rather, it will waste enormous resources that could be directed towards solving the minimal needs of thousands of families in a socially catastrophic situation,” the statement emphasized.
“Once again, we urge everyone not to attempt to manipulate the BHK faction’s position on this matter. It is time to clear our minds and act. The BHK has already presented seven essential urgent points necessary to overcome the current situation, while today’s agenda includes issues that in no way contribute to resolving the crisis.”
“Now, everyone’s focus and efforts should be directed towards preventing the spread of the pandemic, alleviating the social issues facing the population, caring for the doctors who are fighting for the health and lives of people on the frontline, and regulating the issue of overburdened healthcare personnel shifts, as well as ensuring medical institutions are supplied with the necessary tests and medications,” the statement continued.
“The Prosperous Armenia Party once again calls on our compatriots to strictly adhere to all safety norms and to demonstrate a high level of social responsibility. We will overcome this trial together and with faith. God bless us all,” the declaration concludes.
