Citizens Rendered Unemployed by Coronavirus Must Be Targeted for Social Support, Prime Minister
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, discussions continued today at the government regarding measures to mitigate the consequences of the coronavirus. Specifically, further steps to alleviate the situation for specific social groups, support tools, and mechanisms were discussed.
Ideas voiced during the previous discussion were summarized, and several proposals aimed at expanding the scope of beneficiaries of the social assistance package adopted by the government yesterday were presented.
The Prime Minister addressed issues raised during his phone conversation with citizens today, noting that those who have become unemployed due to the coronavirus now urgently need support and should be the primary target for assistance.
Nikol Pashinyan tasked the responsible authorities to continue interdepartmental work on refining the generated ideas and to present a draft on the expansion of social assistance measures and support to various strata of society for discussion this Sunday.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the implementation procedures of the economic and agricultural support programs approved by the government yesterday.
