Tunnel Underneath the Railway Banner: Garik Sargsyan

Ararat regional governor Garik Sargsyan has published the following information on his Facebook page: "A polyethylene water pipeline with a diameter of 250mm is being laid by the "Veolia Water" company from the newly built, but not yet operational, daily regulator reservoir in the community of Nor Ughi in Ararat province to the adjacent settlements. There has been a severe shortage of drinking water here, especially during the summer.

The water will be supplied to Pokr Vedi and Lusarat, while Nor Kank will receive only a partial supply. The internal network of Taperakan is also expected to be connected to this new pipeline instead of the existing damaged one, which will positively impact its water supply.

The pipeline originating from the regulator reached the railway but then halted. Company employees excavated a tunnel underneath the banner and emerged in the fields adjacent to Nor Kank. An additional approximately 500 linear meters of water pipeline will enable connections to the internal distribution network of the settlements to this new pipeline.

Specialists from Yerevan and the "Artashat" operating area are working on-site. The aim is to complete the project as much as possible before the hot weather, in order to operate the new reservoir efficiently."
