Electricity, Gas, and Drinking Water Supply Cannot Be Discontinued: Regulatory Body
In light of the emergency state declared in the Republic of Armenia due to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has recognized the current situation as a force majeure that obstructs citizens from fulfilling their payment obligations for supplied electricity, natural gas, and drinking water until the end of the declared emergency state.
This information has been reported by the PSRC. "Under such circumstances, supply companies are not authorized to discontinue the electricity, gas, and drinking water supply to residential customers in case of non-fulfillment of their payment obligations, according to the relevant contracts signed with consumers. At the same time, we inform that this does not exempt residential customers from fulfilling their payment obligations for the supplied electricity, natural gas, and drinking water," the announcement stated.
