Businesses Can Seek Ombudsman's Support in Case of Issues with State Bodies
The state of emergency declared in the Republic of Armenia due to the extraordinary situation understandably comes with certain restrictions on public and economic life, which are driven by the need to combat the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and protect public health.
These restrictions have created difficulties for businesses. Such challenges may also arise in the context of the extraordinary organization of state bodies’ operations during these times.
The protection of business interests is a significant direction of the Human Rights Defender's activities, both in ordinary and particularly in times of emergency. Matters concerning the Defender's authority are at the forefront of our daily attention.
Thus, we inform businesses that in case of issues with state bodies, they can seek support from the Ombudsman. The Defender's staff operates a division for the protection of rights in the business sector, and for inquiries, businesses can call 116 or 096-116-100 (for non-working days and hours).
It is worth reminding that the Human Rights Defender had previously responded to the concerns of workers under the state of emergency; however, it should be noted that the protection of rights requires a comprehensive approach, considering the guarantees of rights for all parties involved.
