100 Million Drams Allocated for Renovation of Manholes, Their Copper Covers, and Rainwater Drains
The spokesperson for Yerevan City Hall, Hakob Karapetyan, made a Facebook post indicating that 100 million drams have been allocated for the renovation of manholes, their copper covers, and rainwater drains. Karapetyan noted that the manholes will be leveled with the asphalt surface during road renovations.
“During the paving works this year, particular attention will be paid to manholes that cause unevenness on the road. 100 million drams have been allocated in Yerevan’s 2020 budget for the renovation of manholes, their copper covers, and rainwater drains. Manholes that are either below or above the road surface have become obstacles for traffic today, sometimes creating hazardous conditions or damaging vehicles. They will now be leveled with the asphalt surface during road renovations.
According to existing regulations, the relevant organizations are essentially responsible for the maintenance of manholes. However, as the issue has not been resolved over the years, the municipality, upon the instruction of Mayor Hayk Marutyan, has voluntarily taken on the authority to address the problem.
