Georgia Temporarily Closes Air Borders Due to Coronavirus
Starting from March 21, air services in Georgia will be completely halted. This was announced after the meeting of the coordinating council on coronavirus issues by Prime Minister's advisor Irakli Chikovani, reports Alik Media.
“It has been decided that tomorrow air traffic will be entirely suspended, and only flights operated by Georgian Airways and coordinated with the Georgian government will be carried out. Every citizen entering Georgia, regardless of the country they are coming from, will be transferred to a quarantine zone,” Chikovani stated.
Prior to this, on March 18, Georgia had closed its borders to foreigners for two weeks, although Prime Minister's advisor Irakli Chikovani noted that Georgian citizens wishing to return home will be able to do so with the assistance of Georgian Airways. According to his statement, family members of Georgian citizens will have the same opportunity.
