Tourism Companies Address Open Letter to Nikol Pashinyan
Tourism companies engaged in activities in Armenia are addressing an open letter to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
We present the full statement of the tourism professionals below:
“Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
The sharp decline in tourism due to the financial and economic crisis and the spread of the coronavirus has posed a serious challenge to all companies in the tourism sector—particularly those involved in inbound and outbound tourism, ticket sales, transportation, the hotel business, public catering, and tour guides.
In this context, it is essential for our companies to receive state support. We propose that the government initiate a temporary change to the tax code on an urgent basis for companies in this sector, establishing a tax holiday for all types of taxes for at least six months.
This package of actions has been developed considering similar measures implemented in several countries and will facilitate the rapid recovery of the sector after the crisis situation is resolved.
We expect a positive outcome, as tourism is one of our country’s key sectors, and we are confident that the Republic of Armenia stands firmly alongside its proud citizens.”
