I Resign as Commander of the Armed Forces of Artsakh. Statement by Karen Abrahamyan
Today, I resign from the position of Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Artsakh. This was announced by Karen Abrahamyan.
In the statement, it is particularly noted: "During our joint service in the military, we have experienced both irreversible successes and certain shortcomings. In terms of achievements, the year 2019 was indeed a breakthrough year for the Defense Army. We achieved significant successes in almost all areas.
Continuing the positive developments recorded in previous years, we were able to bring the process of military duty to a new qualitative level, enhancing the front line with modern surveillance systems in line with current requirements, which resulted in an increased level of technical equipment, allowing us to reduce the burden of combat duty.
Furthermore, within the framework of communication improvement, elements of controlling the surveillance system have also been developed. By accepting new types of more protected and comfortable fortifications, we have enhanced the safety and sustainability of the personnel on combat duty.
Particular attention was paid to the organization of combat and mobilization readiness of troops, management of forces, and comprehensive support for combat operations, focusing on the introduction of new methods and ideas for modern combat during conducted exercises and various operational-tactical events.
Alongside all this, we made significant progress in the areas of combat, technical, and logistical support for the troops and different branches. In particular, the army was supplied with new samples of weapons and updated technical tools, resulting in a significant increase in the combat capacity of the army.
The social and living conditions of the personnel on combat duty and at permanent deployment locations were improved, and large-scale work was carried out to address the housing issues of servicemen, military retirees, and their families.
In closing my remarks, I extend my deepest gratitude to the entire personnel of the Defense Army, from the ranks to the generals, for our joint service and, at the same time, express my belief that the Armed Forces of Artsakh will honorably continue to fulfill the sacred mission of defending the Motherland, as they have done until now."
