Coronavirus Reaches Georgia: First Case Registered
Georgia has registered its first case of infection with the new type of coronavirus. This was announced by the Minister of Health of Georgia, Ekaterine Tikaradze, during an extraordinary press conference with journalists.
The infected individual is a middle-aged citizen who entered Georgia from Iran via Azerbaijan the day before. The Minister of Health noted that the infected person has been immediately transferred to an infectious disease hospital in Tbilisi and has had no contact with others.
"The person confirmed to be infected is currently in almost clinically healthy condition. There is circulation of the virus in their system. In total, 82% of cases have mild manifestations of this disease," stated the head of the health department.
Currently, 14 people hospitalized with high fever are in the hospital in Tbilisi. Eleven of them are Georgian citizens, while the others are from China and Iran.
