Road Closures and Difficult Passes in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of January 16 at 08:40, there are closed and difficult passages on the roads of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is currently difficult to traverse. The Sotk-Karabakh highway is closed for heavy vehicles, but open for others.
On the Goris-Kapan highway in the Syunik region, there is black ice in the Shurnukh-Katari section. Snowfall is reported in the towns of Gavar and Chambarak in the Gegharkunik region, on the Sotk-Karabakh highway, in the town of Charentsavan in the Kotayk region, and throughout the Syunik, Tavush, and Lori regions.
Regarding the Lars area, according to information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
