Albania Expels Two Iranian Diplomats from the Country
Albanian authorities have expelled two Iranian diplomats from the country. This was reported by Reuters, citing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj.
“Two representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been asked to leave the territory of Albania immediately,” the agency quoted the minister.
It is noted that the reason for the expulsion of the diplomats was their involvement in activities inconsistent with their diplomatic status. According to the agency, this could be related to suspicions of espionage.
In December 2018, Albania declared two Iranian diplomats persona non grata for alleged illegal activities threatening the country's security.
