Boris Johnson Opposes New Independence Referendum for Scotland

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson sent a letter to Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on January 14, expressing his opposition to her demand for the right to hold a new referendum on Scottish independence.

“You and your predecessors made a personal promise that the 2014 referendum would be the only vote. The people of Scotland voted decisively in favor of maintaining the united Kingdom, and both the UK and Scottish governments committed to respecting the results of that referendum,” states the text of the letter, which was published by Johnson on Twitter.
