Doctors Save Life of Soldier with Severe Injuries Through Complex Surgery

The Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi reports that a complex surgery was carried out by Artavazd Sahakyan, head of the Clinic of Plastic Surgery and Micro Surgery at the university's ‘Heratsi’ Hospital No. 1, in collaboration with urologists from the university hospital.

A 19-year-old conscripted soldier, who sustained a gunshot wound while serving in Artsakh and was transferred in critical condition to the Central Clinical Military Hospital, underwent surgery after a medical consultation with leading urologists.

According to Artavazd Sahakyan, the soldier suffered severe gunshot wounds to the right thigh, abdomen, and chest, resulting in serious damage to internal organs. “We performed a complex surgery in collaboration with urologists and restored all damaged organs,” said the plastic surgeon, assuring that the soldier’s condition is assessed as stable, and this young man, miraculously saved, is expected to have no health issues in the future.
