Armenian Athlete Passes Away After 18 Months in Coma
Kolya Karapetyan, an athlete who suffered a severe injury at the 2017 European Championship, has passed away today after spending eighteen months in a coma. This was reported by the Sambo Federation of Armenia.
The athlete sustained his injury during a match competing for a medal. Despite winning a gold medal, his health deteriorated after the bout. He had been in a coma since 2017.
The Sambo Federation of Armenia expresses profound sorrow over the loss of Kolya Karapetyan, who, despite his serious injury at the 2017 European Championship, managed to win a bronze medal for Armenia through great effort. After fighting for his life for eighteen months, he left this world on November 29, 2019, without regaining consciousness. Kolya was only thirty years old.
The wake for the athlete will be held on November 30 at 6 PM at the "Erebuni" funeral home, located at 2-14 Kaghak Douni, Yerevan. The burial will take place on December 1 at 1 PM from the same location.
