Iraqi Army Opens Fire on Protesters, 13 Dead
At least 13 people have been killed during protests in the city of Nasiriyah, southern Iraq. On Thursday, Iraqi security forces opened fire on demonstrators who had gathered near two bridges over the Euphrates River. As a result, 70 others were injured.
The situation in Iraq has been tense in recent weeks, with protesters demanding jobs and action against corruption and bureaucracy.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi army has announced the establishment of a special unit to combat unrest.
