Details Released by Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on the Circumstances of Ashot Karapetyan's Death
On November 28 at 16:23, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations received information from the operational duty officer that Ashot Karapetyan, a citizen of Armenia (born in 1970), and Tigran T. (born in 1959) had died in an explosion at a brewery in the city of Pyatigorsk, Stavropol Krai.
Earlier reports indicated that Ashot Karapetyan, the former head of the police department in Yerevan, Armenia, died in the explosion.
According to preliminary information, an explosion occurred in one of the breweries in Pyatigorsk, resulting in the collapse of a building and a subsequent fire. Ashot Karapetyan was inside at the time of the explosion. Russian media reports suggest that the explosion was caused by a violation of technological processes.
Karapetyan's uncle also perished in the blast. A criminal case has been initiated. The authorities in Pyatigorsk announced that the brewery did not have permission to connect to the gas system.
