Ankara's Presidential Palace Was Once the Home of an Armenian Family

The Turkish Milliyet newspaper has published an article by historian Baskin Oran, revealing some unpleasant facts related to the presidential palace in Ankara. Mr. Oran notes that before the Armenian Genocide of 1915, the palace was the home of the Kasabian Armenian family, as reported by shantnews.am.

Thus, the historian has responded to the Ankara newspaper's propaganda piece titled 'The Presidential Palace: A Gift from the People to Atatürk.' Baskin Oran proves that the palace is not actually a gift, but rather the result of plundering Armenians during the genocide.

According to the official Turkish version, the house was purchased from the Armenians by the Bulguruluzade family; however, the heir of the Kasabian family had claimed back in 2007 that they had not sold that part of their property. Earlier, Bayanat.org had published information stating that the presidential palace belonged to an Armenian family.
