Restrictions on Visas for Indian Citizens: Avet Adon
During today’s meeting of the National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee, MP Mikayel Zolyan from the "My Step" faction inquired with Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adon about whether they have considered the experiences of post-Soviet countries that have mutual agreements for visa-free entry with China. He also asked if there has been a significant increase in inflow after signing such agreements.
The MP requested information about the facilitated visa regime between Armenia and India. "Unverified information came that there have been some issues between Indian citizens and Armenians. What problems have we had with Indian citizens, and is there a phenomenon, or was it just an incident that attracted media attention?" the MP queried.
Avet Adon remarked that it is not appropriate to draw parallels between India and China. "The government reaffirmed about two weeks ago the regime that exists for Indian citizens, who until recently were able to visit Armenia and receive visas at the airport. Currently, new restrictions have come into effect on our part. There are restrictions on mechanically issuing visas to Indian citizens at Zvartnots Airport or any border checkpoint in Armenia," noted the Deputy Foreign Minister.
