Who is Supporting Businessman Gevorg Afandyan in His Remarkable Activities
According to the "Fact" newspaper, businessman Gevorg Afandyan is involved in several dozen lawsuits against banks in Armenia. Furthermore, various media outlets have periodically reported that Afandyan has decided to resolve all his issues by suing banks and receiving funds. In particular, Afandyan is attempting to collect $22 million from ID Bank (formerly known as Anelik Bank).
According to various sources, Afandyan is being supported in his remarkable activities, as well as in these legal processes, by former President Serzh Sargsyan's brother, Alexander (Sashik) Sargsyan. When asked by "Fact" if they have evidence related to this issue, ID Bank's Chairman of the Board, Mher Abrahamyan, stated that they currently do not have any real evidence or proof on hand.
“There are numerous publications in the media regarding the businessman’s connections and relationships with former and even current officials. Naturally, we are aware of them as well. We are confident that in the new Armenia, even with the support of powerful benefactors and officials, it is impossible to ensure the old ways and resolve certain problems and issues. We are hopeful that justice has no alternative in this legal process,” said Abrahamyan.
